Right now, everyone is talking about the upcoming Marvel movie, Morbius, which fans have got incredibly high expectations for. The teaser trailer for the Living Vampire’s upcoming movie looked dark, gripping, and incredibly interesting, building a strong level of hype for the film ahead of time.

The character is well-known for being one of Spider-Man’s greatest nemeses, and he is an incredibly unique character, which makes him perfect for a new movie. Following Michael Morbius on his journey to find a cure for a rare disease, he slowly becomes a monster in the process.

Marvel got the world talking about the movie being part of the MCU canon, despite being made by Sony. With Michael Keaton’s Vulture already showing up in the trailer, it has led fans to question what other MCU cameos we might see within the film. Here are five we would love to pop up, along with five would we would rather do not.

We Want: Spider-Man

We may as well get the most obvious one out of the way first, right? The chances are quite high for Spider-Man to pop up within this movie, especially now that Vulture has been seen in the trailer as Peter Parker has a clear connection to the characters and story involved.

Sony and Marvel have a working deal together with this character anyway, so there’s a good chance that something was added to have Tom Holland pop up in some Sony created movies in the future. With Morbius being a villain from the Spider-Man stories, he makes a lot of sense to show up, and if not he will certainly be referenced.

We Don’t: Happy Hogan

Happy Hogan has played a big role in the Spider-Man character and movies so far in the MCU due to his connection with Tony Stark. However, that doesn’t mean he should just slot into this particular movie, mainly because he doesn’t have the same tone.

From the trailer, Morbius appears to be a much darker and more sinister film than we have seen in the MCU so far, therefore dropping Happy into the equation doesn’t make sense. If a Spider-Man connection needs to be made, it would be greater to simply have it be Tom Holland.

We Want: Bruce Banner

One of the big themes that run through Morbius’ journey is the fact that he is desperately trying to find a cure for his disease. If that storyline is showcased in great detail, then it would only make sense to have someone with brains and a scientific background cameo in the movie.

When it comes to the MCU, the main person that springs to mind is Bruce Banner. He is someone who has experience in trying to find cures to save himself from a power or constantly evolving, and seeing him have an interaction with Morbius would be a great way of including an MCU character.

We Don’t: Nick Fury

Traditionally, anytime Marvel wanted to throw in a cameo to set up or tease future movies, Nick Fury was the man that they would call. However, his role has diminished over the years as he was in charge of setting up The Avengers and hasn’t played a big role in actually running it since their first group mission.

Throwing him into this movie would certainly make sense. Either to recruit Morbius, if he is to turn, or to keep an eye on him as a threat. However, it just feels like there are more exciting potentials for cameos within the MCU world to pick from.

We Want: Scarlet Witch

Speaking of characters who would be more interesting to appear, having Scarlet Witch pop up within Morbius would be incredibly interesting. She is one of the most powerful characters within the MCU and is, therefore, someone that needs to start being focused on more.

Scarlet Witch is soon set to have her own television show on Disney + with WandaVision, and this would be a smart way for Marvel to drum up some interest for that. The show is meant to have a darker edge and therefore she would fit into this movie as well, so this would be a nice transition for her.

We Don’t: Scorpion

Another Spider-Man villain that certainly could be an option to include in the movie is Mac Gargan, who is known to comic book fans as Scorpion. He was showcased in the MCU previously as a buyer of The Vulture’s weapons, only to end up in prison with him after being busted by the FBI.

While he obviously is disgruntled and out for revenge, the movie doesn’t want to become all about Spider-Man or else Morbius will risk getting lost in the shuffle. With Vulture already confirmed, adding another villain might be overkill.

We Want: J. Jonah Jameson

While we just said that an extra Spider-Man character might be overkill, J. Jonah Jameson is very different from Scorpion. He isn’t someone with crazy superpowers, but you will find it hard to find someone who hates the web-slinger more than him.

We saw Jameson return at the very end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, and we know he will be featured moving forward. Perhaps he could be the one pulling the strings in the background with Morbius and Vulture in order to set up the next Spider-Man film.

We Don’t: Any Deceased MCU Characters

While the time Morbius is set in appears to be current, after the events of the snap, that doesn’t mean that the movie won’t have scenes or flashbacks to past years. Of course, when you go to the past it opens up the doors to those characters who have died to appear at some point.

We know that Marvel enjoys bringing characters back for one-off appearances after they have died, and therefore it wouldn’t be a shock to see someone from the past make an appearance. However, deaths are more impactful when they don’t return at any stage, and therefore it would be better to have no more returning cameos within this film.

We Want: Blade

We know that Blade is coming to the MCU in the future with his own stand-alone movie, but what if Marvel just dropped him in this film as a tease for what is to come? Morbius will bring the vampire world to the MCU for the first time, which is a setting the Blade character belongs in, meaning they wouldn’t need to set that up in a later film.

This could be Marvel’s way of introducing the character, maybe even setting up a slight origin story so that the eventual stand-alone film doesn’t have to go into as much detail. It could also set up for Morbius to be a main villain in that movie if this film and character connects.

We Don’t: Dr. Strange

Dr. Strange is a fantastic character and one that really did benefit from the Avengers plot against Thanos, getting plenty of time to showcase the true peak of his powers. Because of that, now might feel like the right time to capitalize on the sorcerer to keep people engaged with the character.

However, bringing his magic and skills into the world of Morbius doesn’t really fit the theme of the movie. Rather than forcing him into different parts as a cameo in order to use him, it would be better for Marvel to simply hit the brakes and wait for the next best available opportunity with this character.
