Godzilla is no doubt one of the most famous monsters in movie history. The character first appeared in the 1954 film Gojira, but has since appeared in dozens of films featuring all different types of kaiju. In 2014, Gareth Edwards gave Godzilla an American reboot, featuring a new monster known as a MUTO. This year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters introduced more classic monsters such as Rodan, King Ghidorah, and Mothra.

Near the end of the film, several other Titans were being monitored by Monarch around the world including Scylla, Behemoth, Methuselah, and Kong. Next year Godzilla will be squaring off against King Kong, but fans are expecting to see more creatures than just Godzilla and Kong. Here are 5 Titans We Need To See In Godzilla Vs Kong (& 5 We Don’t).

Need: Hedorah

Hedorah, also known as the Smog Monster, was one kaiju that first appeared in the 1971 film Godzilla vs Hedorah, before making a cameo in Godzilla: Final Wars. Hedorah was a strong opponent to Godzilla in the Showa era, with acidic attacks and the ability to shoot a laser beam from his eye.

The director of the film Yoshimitsu Banno wanted Godzilla vs Hedorah to have an underlying message about pollution and with the current concerns over climate change and global warming, Hedorah could be an interesting choice to see in Godzilla vs Kong.

Don’t Need: Minilla

Where should we even start with Minilla? This kaiju was the son of Godzilla that first appeared in the film Son of Godzilla in 1967. The character was incredibly weak compared to his father since he was just a baby, only being able to blow atomic smoke rings.

It’s fair to say that Minilla has been at the center of some of the worst movies in Godzilla history. Minilla was a main character in Destroy All Monsters and All Monsters Attack, which are often credited as two of the worst Godzilla movies ever made. Minilla wasn’t well-received in Toho’s Godzilla films, so there is no point in trying to introduce him to the MonsterVerse.

Need: Destoroyah

Destoroyah is often considered one of Godzilla’s greatest foes and most powerful enemies. Destoroyah started off as a microscopic crustacean but after the Japanese tried to destroy Godzilla in 1954 with the Oxygen Destroyer, Destoroyah started to evolve. Destoroyah is incredibly strong and was able to nearly defeat Godzilla in his burning form, which is the strongest Godzilla had ever been.

Between his Micro-Oxygen beam, laser horn, chest beam, and his ability to mutate, Destoroyah could be an incredible villain to see on the big screen. It’s rumored that Destoroyah could be the villain in Godzilla 3, so maybe Destoroyah will show up in the end-credits scene of Godzilla vs. Kong.

Don’t Need: Giant Condor

Another kaiju that gets a lot of hate is the Giant Condor. The only appearance of Giant Condor was in Ebirah, Horror is the Deep (and stock footage in All Monsters Attack). Giant Condor is one of the most hated kaiju mainly because of how lame he is.

Really he’s just a giant bird, which is vastly different than all of the other creature designs in Godzilla movies. Giant Condor is unlikely to make an appearance in the MonsterVerse and if he did, it would be a mistake. Giant Condor just isn’t unique enough to be included in a movie, especially since MUTO, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah can all fly.

Need: Biollante

Biollante has the DNA of Godzilla, a human, and a rose, making him one of the few hybrids to have three different strands of DNA. Biollante was first introduced in the film Godzilla vs Biollante and was one of the most intriguing kaiju introduced in the Heisei era. The character uses corrosive sap and tendrils against its enemies, but also has quite a few abilities to protest itself if it is harmed.

Biollante can regenerate certain parts of its body and if it is severely injured, it can transform into a cloud of spores and travel to a new location. Biollante has only been seen in two Godzilla movies, so it is one character that definitely deserves more time in the spotlight.

Don’t Need: Gabara

Anything that was created for the film All Monsters Attack probably shouldn’t be adapted for the MonsterVerse. The character was created in the mind of Ichiro Miki, when he dreams about monsters going up against Minilla and Godzilla. Gabara was based on Ichiro’s bully of the same name.

Gabara is a mutant amphibian who almost looks like a mixture of a cat and a toad. The design of the kaiju is one of the worst in the Godzilla films and just looks silly compared to some of the other more vicious creatures. If they were to adapt Gabara for the MonsterVerse, they would certainly need to change his backstory.

Need: Mecha-King Ghidorah

The ending of Godzilla: King of the Monsters introduced several Titans to the MonsterVerse, but they also teased a new form of King Ghidorah: Mecha-King Ghidorah. The villain was teased in the post-credits scene of Godzilla: King of the Monsters when Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) was looking to purchase a severed head of Ghidorah.

While Mechagodzilla is one of Godzilla’s most famous villains, it seems much more likely that Mecha-King Ghidorah would be introduced first. King Ghidorah was nearly able to defeat Godzilla in King of the Monsters, so a mechanized version of the character could be even more powerful, not to mention, seeing a mechanized King Ghidorah on the big screen would be an incredible experience for Godzilla fans.

Don’t Need: King Caesar

King Caesar is yet another one of Godzilla’s most notorious foes. King Caesar first appeared in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, but Mechagodzilla was no doubt the star of that film. In his first film, King Caesar was the guardian of the Azumi family who could only be awakened by an ancient song.

Compared to other kaiju, King Caesar doesn’t really have a lot of unique powers, with his heat beams and lightning beams being his only real abilities. King Caesar is another unique looking kaiju that resembles both a dog and a lion, but he might not translate well for the modern Godzilla movies. Long story short, the world just isn’t ready for King Caesar yet.

Need: Gigan

Gigan is another one of Godzilla’s most notorious foes who has yet to be adapted for the MonsterVerse. Gigan has been featured in a handful of Godzilla movies over the years, likely because of his unique design. Gigan’s most notable feature is his buzzsaw in the middle of his chest, but he also has scythes for hands and a laser beam that shoots from his forehead.

Gigan is incredibly violent compared to other kaiju, which could translate well for a newer Godzilla movie. That being said, Gigan’s design is truly bizarre, so he might not make an appearance in Godzilla vs Kong.

Don’t Need: Godzillasaurus

Another one of the sillier designs for a kaiju was Godzillasaurus. Godzillasaurus was first seen in Godzilla vs King Ghirodah when the Futurians go back in time to erase Godzilla from history. Godzillasaurus is seen protecting Japanese soldiers from American forces during World War II, but was killed in the war.

Godzillasaurus eventually evolves into Godzilla, with Baby Godzilla hatching from one of Godzillasaurus’ eggs. Godzilla vs. Kong could delve into the origins of Godzilla, but even if they do, Godzillasaurus should be left out especially since Godzillasaurus leads to Baby Godzilla.
