Sabrina is an extremely talented witch who draws her powers from her demonic father and her dark heritage. While she is easily one of the most dangerous witches in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina there are plenty of others who could face her elsewhere.
Hollywood and beyond have produced so many powerful witches, some of whom would be able to best Sabrina in combat. Here are 10 of those famous movie witches, five who could absolutely beat Sabrina and five that the teenage witch would actually be able to defeat.
LOSE AGAINST: PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL
Professor McGonagall is so good at what she does that she teaches others her gift. What she might lack in terms of her magical ability she certainly gains in regards to her experience. At her best, McGonagall could even take down Snape.
This would very much be a fight between a girl and a woman. While McGonagall may struggle in parts due to the sheer power of Sabrina, she’s cunning, sly and can make even the most difficult of magic look utterly effortless.
BEAT: HERMIONE GRANGER
While Hermione is likely more powerful that her teachers, she could fall foul to Sabrina’s charms and spells. Hermione has faced down some pretty dark wizards, but her combat skills are not as good as her general magical knowledge.
Perhaps if Hermione had more time to prepare she’d be ready for this threat, but if the attack came from nowhere, her spells would be technically well-made but perhaps not quite strong enough to deal with the sheer power of Sabrina.
LOSE AGAINST: MALEFICENT
There are many dark witches in the movie universe, some of whom have powers that Sabrina could only dream of. Maleficent has many abilities we’ve never seen before, with enough strength to take on a whole kingdom.
The anger and resentment behind Maleficent is fiercer than any emotion Sabrina can conjure. Once again, Maleficent is leagues ahead in terms of experience and she is one of cinema’s most iconic witches for a reason.
BEAT: MARY POPPINS
Mary Poppins is by all definitions a witch. She can perform magic, has artifacts like her umbrella and bag that help her in her mission, and she can even fly. However, her purpose is different to many other magic wielders on this list.
While others look to use their abilities for evil, Mary Poppins simply wants to make the world a better place. She therefore visits families in need of helping in order to take parents and children alike on magical adventures. These skills have no combat purpose and Sabrina would beat her easily.
LOSE AGAINST: WHITE WITCH
The White Witch is particularly malicious although not as skilled magically as some of the others on this list. But what she fails at in terms of ability is made up for in her leadership skills and manipulation. Taking on the White Witch is a fools errand.
Her icy powers are still difficult to match, especially for Sabrina, but she also has the control of a major army and enough villainous conviction that she held no shame about killing Aslan despite everything he stood for.
BEAT: NANNY MCPHEE
There are plenty of pop culture witches and wizards that Sabrina could beat. When she can, it’s likely because they were not designed to be put in this kind of scenario. Much like Mary Poppins, Nanny McPhee is another one of those witches.
She’s really been created to help kids in difficult situations. She has various magical abilities that could be used in a fight, but none of them would be as useful as what Sabrina could do. At least she could get rid of her warts before the showdown, though.
LOSE AGAINST: SCARLET WITCH
Sabrina herself finds her background in the world of comics but she’d never be able to face one of the most dangerous witches in all of Marvel and indeed all of cinema. The Scarlet Witch is a woman who you really don’t want to mess with.
Her skills are at an almost unparalleled level; she’s so strong she nearly beat Thanos one on one. She’s unpredictable, incredibly capable and has faced threats much more dangerous than anything Sabrina could produce. It’s really a no contest here.
BEAT: WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST
Sure, the Wicked Witch of the West is absolutely terrifying and is of course one of the greatest witches in all of film history. She’s managed to scare Dorothy enough times and it took a lot to find her weakness. But that’s exactly the problem.
The Wicked Witch has such a massive weakness that it’s incredibly likely Sabrina would be able to defeat her quite easily. All it takes is a splash of water, and this terrifying individual is reduced to absolutely nothing.
LOSE AGAINST: BELLATRIX LESTRANGE
We’ve mentioned a few other witches from the wizarding world, but when we’re talking dark magic, there’s one other that has to be included. Bellatrix Lestrange is the most unstable character in the Harry Potter franchise, and that’s exactly why we give her the edge.
She’s obviously cruel and intelligent, and much of her magic is completely unpredictable. She can produce some of the darkest of spells that even Satan himself would be impressed by. Sabrina would not be able to combat such an erratic force of evil.
BEAT: URSULA
Ursula’s a big manipulator and a long-term planner. She can grow to an enormous size and is physically terrifying. Her magic varies and we’re sure that there are some spells in her play book that would help her to defeat Sabrina.
But their power sets aren’t really on the same level. This sea creature should probably stay in the ocean because if she surfaces she’s going to have to face her toughest challenge since Poseidon.
