Five new clips for the hotly anticipated Justice League have been released online. It’s been a super November for superhero movies already, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry Thor: Ragnarok rocking the box office this weekend with an estimated domestic take of $121 million in its opening frame. Not too far behind the new Thor movie, though, is DCEU superhero adventure Justice League, which will be storming into theaters in less than two weeks, and finally uniting Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller); with the reemergence of Superman (Henry Cavill) at some point.
The six Justice League cast members have been super busy with international premieres and press tours already, with a turn in the United States yet to come. This weekend, the film’s press junket was held in London, and in conjunction with the casts’ interviews, Warner Bros. and DC Films has released five more clips to give fans a closer look at the film – which have been posted online via Comic Book.
The first clip, titled Steppenwolf Attack, finds the team battling Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), with Cyborg taking the lead in trying to thwart the villain’s efforts. The clip also features Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler and technical support genius, Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons), who gets a surprising introduction to one of the new members of the Justice League. See the clip below:
The next clip, We Need Superman, offers a quieter scene from the film, where Bruce laments with Alfred the loss of Superman and the meaning his prior nemesis found in the world. Bruce says the alien from Krypton was “more human” than he was, and also admits that “Superman could bring this team together better than I ever could.” See the clip below:
The fourth clip, Batman Inspires Flash, features only Affleck and Miller, as the Scarlet Speedster nervously admits to the Caped Crusader that he’s never “done battle,” but just “pushed some people” and ran away (to which Batman responds with some sage advice). The clip showcases Miller’s gift for comedic timing, in the film that he’s previously said is much lighter in tone than Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. See the clip below:
The final clip released by the production, Jim Gordon Meets Team, is self-explanatory, introducing J.K. Simmons as Gotham’s famed detective to the Justice League. Staged in front of the Bat-Signal, Gordon asks, “How many of you are there?” to which Batman responds, “Not enough.” Watch below:
Not surprisingly, Superman is noticeably absent from all the clips, as Warner Bros. and DC Films continue to keep the Man of Steel’s return to the world shrouded in secrecy. After coming this far without any Superman reveals (save a dream sequence featuring Clark Kent and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane in the film’s final trailer), keeping the lid on the character’s role in the film is no doubt a good move. With any luck, the payoff will be huge when Justice League opens in theaters on November 17.
