While fans have been waiting in anticipation for years, it has finally been revealed that HBO will launch a reunion special for everyone’s favorite sitcom: Friends. With this stellar cast coming back to bring these characters to the screen once again, fans are full of excitement and nostalgia.
While there’s debate about whether or not this reunion special will be all it’s cracked up to be, fans can still admit the love the idea of this cast reuniting. However, it begs the question, what other sitcoms should have a reunion? Here are 5 sitcoms that fans would love to a reunion special for, and 5 that we hope never happen.
Don’t: Everybody Loves Raymond
This comedy show had a whopping nine seasons, and fans definitely grew to love these characters. Ending in 2005, this show certainly ran its course. This series didn’t have any whopping storylines that fans need closure on.
As a result, it’s probably best to leave this show untouched. We can still love Ray Romano outside of this sitcom, and a reunion special doesn’t seem necessary to get our laughs from him.
Do: That ’70s Show
This show threw everyone back to their youth, and definitely to the decade of the 70s. This young cast made everyone laugh, and there was so much more to come from these characters’ budding lives.
This cast have all worked together since their time on this show, and it’s even more exciting because they were only young adults in this show. Now that they have adult lives, it would be thrilling to see where these characters all ended up.
Don’t: The Big Bang Theory
This iconic sitcom just recently finished its 12th season in 2019. It actually wrapped up everyone’s storylines, and there was little to complain about when the credits rolled on the last episode.
The season finale of its last season tied up every knot fans wanted, and moved every viewer to tears of happiness. There were no hard feelings about this show’s finale, and it’s actually good that it came to an end when it did. Therefore, we don’t need to see this gang come back to the small screen.
Do: Seinfeld
Other than Friends, this sitcom is probably the most classic television comedy series out there. With all of these lovable characters, fans would likely be equally as excited for them to return for a reunion.
It would be hard for them to ruin it, since it is, of course, a show about nothing. Some extra laughs with this dynamic and classic gang would definitely be well-received by its large fan base.
Don’t: The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
This show was an absolutely iconic sitcom and was one of the most prominent to include diverse characters. Of course, Will Smith’s acting career burst open with this show, and fans were definitely in love with these characters.
However, the show definitely lost its momentum in the last couple of seasons, and we probably don’t need to see it revived. Plus, Jame Avery (Uncle Phil) sadly departed us in 2013, and any reunion wouldn’t be the same without him.
Do: The Office
This series has become everyone’s guilty pleasure. With nine seasons, this series continued to make everyone laugh. Of course, this show was the breakout role for many of these actors, and since then, they’ve all become quite the big deal.
Fans would love to see the brilliant and talented Steve Carell and John Krasinski return to the small screen to reconvene their lives. Obviously, fans will always be excited for some more office humor from this stellar cast.
Don’t: Frasier
Not wanting a reunion special for this show is the biggest compliment it can receive. This sitcom is iconic, and a reunion would likely only ruin all of the magic that it created for fans for years.
This show ran for an 11 whopping season, and fans loved every single second of it. We don’t feel like we need them to come together again to relive this incredible show. We’ll just binge it over and over until the end of time.
Do: How I Met Your Mother
Fans might be a little uneasy about having this group together again. This show’s finale was one of the most controversial of all the shows on this list, and a reunion special might just let this show redeem itself.
Fans definitely wanted different endings for this crew, and a reunion might take the bitter taste away and let fans enjoy this gang’s humor and friendship once again. This reunion could rekindle our love for this iconic and hilarious sitcom.
Don’t: Cheers
This is another show that is honestly just too iconic to have a reunion. This the most classic a sitcom can get, and it’s certainly the birth of the best comedy series out there. With 11 seasons, this show ended all the way back in 1993.
Honestly, this was quite some time ago, and fans would probably prefer this gem to just stay an icon, and we wouldn’t dare want to mess with this classic show by adding a tacky reunion special.
Do: Community
This show needs a reunion special for many of the same reasons as The Office. This comedy series had 6 seasons, and actually just ended in 2015. This show is an underrated gem, and fans are definitely the truest fans that there can be.
Of course, the real reason we’d love a reunion is that this entire cast has become so different since this show. Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Joel McHale, and Ken Jeong back on the small screen together again would be full of laughs, because these actors have certainly made a name for themselves since.
