All eight episodes of The Mandalorian are now available on Disney + (so if you were waiting for a good time to cash in your free trial for the service this may be it). The show has been a huge hit for Disney and baby Yoda has become a cultural icon, even to those who have not yet watched a single episode of the new show. But, for viewers, thoughts, hypothesis, and concerns about what may await in season 2 have begun to spring up.

Fans have to wait until the fall of 2020 to see Mando and his little green sidekick in any new stories, but that doesn’t mean that fans have not already clearly stated what sorts of things they’d like to see.

Want to See - Revenge for the Covert

It wasn’t until the season finale that viewers got to see what happened to the other members of the Mandalorian Covert hiding on Nevarro after they helped Mando escape with Baby Yoda in episode three (after he finally got his act together and admitted his love for the little mynock and went back for him). The Covert, it seems, did not have time to relocate before they were attacked by some pretty angry people. When Mando returns to the tunnels it’s only the Armorer who remains to greet him, along with a stack of the armor of those who were lost. Let’s see Mando take some revenge for his fallen brothers in season 2.

Don’t Want - Force Overuse

Like Greef Karga, fans love it when Baby Yoda uses his “magic hands”. But a lot of the fun of the show also comes from the fact that Mando is still very much in charge of keeping that tiny little guy safe. While it certainly makes sense for Baby Yoda to come into his powers a tiny bit, overuse of the Force at this point might ruin the balance the show has worked so hard to achieve. This Star Wars western of sorts is a hit because it differentiates itself enough from shows and movies that already exist (most of which focus on force users and their powers). This is more fun with the force used only minimally.

Want to See - The Good Guys

We have seen the bad guys. A lot of them. From the Bounty Hunters Guild, to the client, and finally Moff Gideon, a lot of bad people are out to hurt the little green baby everyone else seems to love. Let’s see a little bit more of the love in season two. If so many evil people know about Baby Yoda’s existence it would only make sense that some good people might have heard about him too. What would happen if those people came looking for Baby Yoda? Would Mando be able to give him up? We hope not, but it would certainly be an interesting dynamic to explore.

Don’t Want - Boba Fett

Everyone has heard the rumors. There must have been a point to setting an episode on Tatooine. There are going to be classic Star Wars characters making appearances on the program. But don’t let it be Boba Fett. The Mandalorian is about a Mandalorian, singular, and with a new look at his face, we really hope that Mandalorian keeps being Mando (Din Djarin). Boba Fett would be cool, but also a big distraction. Let’s not get too complicated and do too many storyline backflips just for an original trilogy shoutout.

Want to See - Gideon and his Darksaber

For those who are not already enmeshed in the Star Wars expanded universe or the Clone Wars or Star Wars: Rebels yes, that black lightsaber of sorts has a name and a very storied history.

It is very connected to the planet Mandalor and the Mandalorian people (which raises a lot of questions about Moff Gideon as well). That’s not just a lightsaber for a lightsaber’s sake, that’s connected to the history of the Mandalorians and it makes perfect sense that it should make an appearance in the story of The Mandalorian. We certainly hope to see more of it, and hear what it has been up to, in season 2.

Don’t Want - More Jawas

The Jawas were fun and funny in episode 2, showing us that yes, it was certainly possible for Mando to get in over his head, but, there’s only so many Jawas an audience should be forced to take. We now know they wander planets other than Tatooine, and that’s all well and good, but they’ve gotten their egg and eaten it too, it wouldn’t be right to try and trade or negotiate with them without Kuill (may he rest in peace). Let’s use season 2 to introduce a few new and different societies and creatures.

Want to See - Fennec Shand

When you cast Ming Na Wen, you shouldn’t cast for a single episode, that’s just wasteful. Add to that the fact we were also treated to a pair of mysterious legs coming upon her body well, you can’t blame fans for assuming her character, Fennec Shand, isn’t as dead and gone as she appeared to be at first.

We want to see more of her in season 2 for sure. We also want to know who traipsed out into the desert to find her, but really, we want to see her and her mercenary ways come back alive and kicking.

Don’t Want - More Han Solo Wannabes

Toro Calican was obviously supposed to be a lame knock off of Han Solo, haha, we get the joke, but boy is it one fans don’t need to see again. There are so many species and characters to explore why must we suffer through poor caricatures and annoying dialogue. Like the Jawas before him, Toro Calican is hopefully a one-off in the universe of The Mandalorian.  He was certainly not a highlight of season 1, and definitely not something to try again moving forward.

Want to See- Baby Yoda

This is a given. Despite the title of the show, Baby Yoda is the beating heart and soul of The Mandalorian and, maybe, the entire Star Wars universe as well. He did get a lot of screentime this season, but there’s no one in the world who would begrudge him a little bit (okay, a lot) more. With Mando officially part of Baby Yoda’s clan now maybe he’ll start teaching the baby and leaving him behind in a closet a little bit less in season two. Everyone is definitely here for it.

Don’t Want - Politicians

Part of what bogged down the prequel trilogy and continues to irk critics to this day was the incredible focus on the politicians in the Galactic Republic. In good news, The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi, which means the original senate is long gone. That also means this is the time period where they fledgling New Republic will be trying to get started. The Mandalorian has been fun (and action-packed so far), obviously with Baby Yoda along it’s a winning combination. Let’s stay away from speeches and politicians as the journey continues.
