How to get your 7 11 free Slurpee
To gain early access to the prize, you will need to be a 7Rewards or Speedy Rewards member. Then, on July 1st a coupon will be accredited directly to your registered account, and you can either scan through the 7-Eleven or Speedway app, use Speedy Rewards physical card, or even use an alternate ID at checkout.
Members of those loyalty programs are also awarded 11 days of one-dollar pizza slices, grill items, muffins, and other snacks available in the store. Mind that both 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards have no associated cost. You can sign up for free, downloading the app via the Apple Store or Google Play, to enjoy exclusive benefits and deals.
If you are not a part of either loyalty program, you will have to wait until the company’s birthday on 11th July to redeem your drink.
Waiting until 7/11 also offers the opportunity to get your free slurpee drink from the comfort of your home or anywhere you are enjoying your summer. Just order via the 7NOW delivery service and you are good to continue relaxing by the pool.
Lastly, keep in mind that the promotion is limited to one Slurpee per person -instead of one drink per location- and only for small-sized drinks, so you cannot bring your own cup to the store.
What stores are participating?
You can celebrate Slurpee Day as always in any 7/11 store located in the U.S. -excluding Hawaii- and Canada (only the first 1500 customers). Since last year, however, 7-Eleven, Inc acquired Speedway stores, so for the first time, you can participate in this ‘holiday’ at any Speedway or Stripes location.
20-year milestone: going bigger than ever!
First celebrated on the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the chain store, on July 11th, 2002 (hence, 7/11 day), this date has become a staple and a celebration between the company and its loyal customers. And in honor of its 20th year anniversary (and the company’s 95th), we are surprised with some great innovations.
Since its appearance, people have referred to 7-Eleven Day as Slurpee Day. Growing ever so big, this time around the chain decided to coin the term and adapt it as well. And the thrill does not stop there. Instead of being observed for just one day, this time we have 264 hours -or, you know, 11 days- to claim our frozen treat, from 7/1 all through 7/11.
For a limited time only, in addition to the well-known classic flavors such as Blue Raspberry or Pina Colada, customers are offered new tastes like Mango Lemonade or Brisk Blood Orange -the combination of two summer favorites: iced tea and Slurpees. The star of the show, however, is the new orange-colored flavor called What the Fanta. And do not get fooled by the name, you are encouraged to decipher its taste!
Slurpee: a U.S. Classic
Discovered by accident -a soda fountain broke down and the drinks had to be put in the freezer- in the ‘50s, the Slurpee didn’t get its name until the mid-’60s. Since then, it has grown rapidly in popularity and even got its song ‘Dance the Slurp.’
An estimated 300 flavors have been offered at 7/11 over the decades, some with bold names like Pink Fink or Adults Only, and others acquiring lifetime status like Coca-Cola or Wild Cherry. Limitless, creative, and unthinkable combinations have emerged, as the store gives the customers the freedom to choose more than one taste for their drink.
Watch out for the brain freeze!
Do you know that feeling on the top of your head, the sensation that inadvertently comes when enjoying something cold? Well, it is called sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia- or brain freeze for friends and family.
It usually isn’t very serious, but can spoil the experience of enjoying your free Slurpee but don’t fret, here are a few tips to make it go away:
• Put the drink down. It may seem obvious but please, don’t keep drinking! • Sip from a warmer liquid. If available, drink some water or anything at hand to help increase your temperature.
• Press your tongue or your thumb on the roof of your mouth.
• Breathe through your mouth. This allows hotter air to enter your body, helping get that freeze away.
So, prepare your summer playlist and put on a hat to be ready to enjoy not only the free Slurpee day but also the summer-long promotions that 7/11 will be offering during these hot days.
