90 Day Fiancé’s Ashley Martson has split with her estranged husband Jay Smith again after a brief reconciliation. However, in a shocking turn of events, it appears that Smith has allegedly fathered a child with another woman.
Martson’s road with Smith has been a rocky one. Their relationship drama played out on 90 Day Fiancé’s sixth season. Smith was confronted and ultimately fired by his friend Kendell for fornicating in the restroom of his barber shop. Martson and Smith were also the victims of violent hate speech and online threats just prior to their wedding. Martson confessed to worrying about Smith’s fidelity throughout the show, but she always talked herself into continuing with the union. She also lived with the ghost of a previous relationship looming overhead. In her previous union, Martson confessed that she had been cheated on and disrespected, so she was still grappling with those insecurities. Smith found himself in a position that required him to atone for her problematic past, while also stepping into a level of emotional maturity beyond his years.
To date, Martson has filed for divorce from Smith on two occasions. This was followed by an order of protection that she sought against him in July 2019. However, the mother of two later dropped those charges and proceeded with another reconciliation. Smith continues to deny any wrongdoing. In response to these most recent allegations, he released a statement to In Touch saying, “That’s a lie.” While on the hit show, Smith often referred to his transgressions as “messing up.”
Martson chose to work on her marriage with the 22-year-old aspiring tattoo artist in hopes that he would live up to the promises he made her during their courtship. This latest betrayal, though, was too much for her. She shared the news with In Touch Weekly, saying:
Martson quit the 90 Day Fiancé franchise in July 2019, after stating that she was looking forward to a bright future in love and self-improvement. This was an authoritative show of strength for her. However, in one of her final appearances on 90 Day Fiancé The Couples Tell All, Martson seemed heartbroken some moments, pensive in others. She lacked the closure she needed to process the relationship and its effect on her well-being. Time away from the onslaught of camera crews would also allow her to regain her independence without fear of social media backlash or undo influence from producers or judgmental cast mates. While fans may be disappointed in the final outcome of this couple’s journey, no one seems more sad about it than Martson.
“I am distraught yet again and am picking up the pieces and doing my best to move on. I know that I only have myself to blame for the situation I’m in again. It’s no one’s fault but my own. I can safely say I am, once and for all, done with Jay.”
