90 Day Fiancé’s Avery Mills shut down rumors that her husband Omar Albakour is controlling. The couple has been fighting an uphill battle regarding their relationship as it looks like they will be forced apart due to the long wait times on his visa.

The series 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has been documenting American Avery and Syrian Omar, but as the season starts to wind down, viewers were starting to see another side to the dentist - a side that seemed to be a bit more aggressive than he had previously been showing. The pair met online through a Muslim dating app after Avery decided to convert to Islam. The couple became engaged to each other without ever meeting and 19-year-old Avery then chose to go and meet her fiancé for the first time as cameras followed her. Despite Avery’s mother’s wishes, they married upon their first encounter. Avery finally spilled the beans to her mother that she would be moving to Syria to be with her husband Omar if the visa wouldn’t allow him to live in America. Avery’s mother, as well as many fans, believe this was a hasty and uninformed move since the country has been torn apart by civil war.

Now, Avery is having to shut down multiple rumors that her husband Omar had been aggressive towards her. The young bride took to her Instagram to share a live feed that she was shocked that her husband had been accused of being controlling. In numerous videos, the Ohio native attacked the allegations and confirmed her devotion to her new husband. The TLC reality star also yelled at trolls who she accused of making up lies that she had been dealing with domestic violence in the privacy of her own home.

Many fans have questioned Omar’s commitment to Avery as he hardly seemed to show emotion when his new bride was boarding her plane back home. When producers asked him why he was so stoic, he told them that men are not as emotional as women and that he must be the strong one. Avery’s mother, Terri Mills, had been steadfast in trying to convince her daughter that she should not go through with the marriage. Even during the couple’s traditional Muslim ceremony in Lebanon, when Avery could not be included in the vows, her mother pleaded that she rethink her decision. After Terri flew back to the United States, Avery started getting a taste of what it would be like to be a woman in a Muslim country as her new husband told her she could not dance in the street. Avery was quick to push back, but fans could see Omar was angry with her rebuttal.

For Avery’s sake, TLC fans are hoping that her social media outcry was not just a case of smoke and mirrors. In Omar’s defense, the clashing of two cultures could just take some getting used to. He will need to come to grips that Avery will most likely not back down when it comes to confrontation, and either he will need to adjust or the two may just not work out.
