Since the wrap of season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé, the highlight of the finale was the major blow-up from Angela Deem. This time, fiancé Michael Ilesanmi’s friends - aka “the goofballs”- received her wrath. However, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the 90 Day Fiancé promotional team made it seem.
Michael and Angela have had a very rocky road to the altar. It appears that the couple made a major step towards their forever with a wedding this past January. Prior to their commitment ceremony, Angela expressed some hesitations about marrying Michael in Nigeria. She wanted her family to participate in the wedding and that wouldn’t be possible in Nigeria, especially with her mother’s deteriorating health. A lawyer in Nigeria suggested that marrying in Michael’s homeland offered the best solution to get him to America, so Angela started planning for a Nigerian wedding. She just needed to have a witness or two agree to travel there. The 90 Day Fiancé finale ended with Angela worried that none of her friends or family would be able to make the trip to Nigeria. Therefore, this would add yet another obstacle for the couple.
During the 90 Day Fiancé tell-all, Michael and Angela seemed stronger than ever. Unlike previous 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days tell-all specials that featured the couple, Angela and Michael had no issues with each other. On this special, all the issues came from Michael’s friends. TLC showed clips of his friends talking badly about Angela, calling her “trashy” and questioning Michael for wanting to be with her. He defended Angela, both part one and two of the tell-all. Eventually, Michael’s friends and Angela spoke through Skype and the discussion just got more intense the longer they stayed on the video chat app.
Neither side looked great in the argument, but Michael’s friends looked especially bad. They actually seemed to be a bit condescending towards Angela. She also seemed a bit justified in her annoyance with their behavior and some of their comments. They were judging her without really getting to know her. Co-star Robert even called Michael’s friends “haters” and commended Michael for defending his woman. Michael’s friends definitely did not paint the best picture of themselves and Angela, though she had a semi-immature, over-the-top reaction, seemed more justified than normal to be upset. If Michael’s friends really cared about his happiness, they wouldn’t try to mock the woman that he loves and wants to marry.
After photos surfaced of Angela marrying Michael in Nigeria in a small outdoor ceremony, Angela and Michael have definitely become two staple TLC stars, it’s likely fans can expect a wedding special of sorts. this means that there must have been some resolution between “the goofballs” and Angela or there’s the option that Michael completely cut off his friends to be with her. Fans will have to wait and see if TLC will continue to document this couple’s journey to see if Michael, his friends, and Angela can resolve their issues before the “I dos.”
