90 Day Fiancé’s Laura and Aladin have officially split after the show’s tell-all episode aired. Their marriage imploded just six weeks after they wed in Qatar.

The couple recently appeared on 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. During the show’s reunion special, Aladin, 29, announced that he no longer wished to stay in the marriage with Laura, 51. This disclosure came as a shock to viewers because, throughout the season, the pair seemed genuinely happy. Laura met the hunky personal trainer online and they quickly began their relationship. Instead of having Aladin come to the United States, she traveled to Qatar and married him in a traditional ceremony. Laura’s adult son Liam expressed concern over his mother’s marriage to Aladin. However, she ignored his protests and got married anyway. During the tell-all, Laura admitted to host Shaun Robinson that things with her husband had taken a turn, and that Aladin had no interest in remaining in the marriage.

According to Yahoo, Laura took to Instagram to speak her mind about the split: “Let’s be honest, OK, I lost my marriage due to this show, but what I’ve lost in a husband, I’ve made in so many amazing friends,” she said. “So, I lost something but I have gained a lot, and I so much appreciate your support.” Aladin’s thoughts on the union were much less sentimental when he was asked if they would get back together: “No. Definitely not. But I wish her no harm and wish her good luck with her future men,” he wrote in his own Instagram post.

Both Laura and Aladin have very different opinions about their marriage. After reuniting for the follow-up episode, Laura explained that Aladin grew bored with their relationship once she was no longer able to pay their rent. Aladin, who appeared via satellite, said the relationship needed to end because his wife had disrespected him. He explained that Laura left the house on her own for several hours without telling anyone where she was going. This was unacceptable to him. He also found her sexual needs to be an affront to his masculinity. Laura appealed to her husband, telling him that she was bored in his country without knowing anyone or having a social outlet. Unfortunately, her pleas did nothing to change Aladin’s mind about continuing the relationship. Laura’s adult son Liam made an appearance during their segment and openly mocked his mother for her naïveté.

Although Laura’s intentions were good, she failed to understand that Aladin is from a completely different culture.  Her desire to enlighten her conservative husband with her demonstrations of independence is commendable, but fell on deaf ears. Hopefully in the future, if/when she makes her next love connection, it will be with a man who loves her unconditionally, and whose lifestyle choices and personal beliefs align with her own.
