90 Day Fiancé and its many spinoffs have produced some of the most unpredictable relationships in reality television. There are ups and downs in any relationship, and the fact that these couples are all long-distance, dealing with language barriers, cultural differences and leaving everything behind for love raises the stakes. After 90 Day Fiancé premiered on TLC back in 2014, viewers have gotten to know many couples as they navigate the K-1 visa process - in order to move their international love to the United States to be together.

The show and the spinoffs have documented many couples’ journeys from their first meetings to the moment when they (hopefully) walk down the aisle together, and sometimes following the couples after they say “I do.” The visa process is messy as it only allows the couple 90 days to legally stay in the United States to plan and pull off a wedding in order to stay in the country.

Of all of the couples featured on the show, there are some that have shocked fans with the twists and turns of their relationships. Here’s the list of the top 5 most unpredictable couples on the show.

5. Annie and David

In season 3, David and Annie headed to America without a place to stay. After one of the most iconic fights of the whole series, David got in an argument with Nikki’s brother who insulted David by calling him the Penguin from Batman, which got them kicked out of Chris and Nikki’s home. Chris offered the couple to stay rent-free in the upstairs of the renovated firehouse he owns, but with David not willing to settle for a job below his qualifications, the couple moved into the small kitchen-less apartment.

Annie threatened to return to Thailand if David didn’t sort out his finances and get them into a better home. Recently, David revealed that they still don’t have a place of their own and are are currently couch-surfing, spending money on traveling and cosmetic surgeries for Annie.

4. Paul and Karine

Throughout their relationship, Paul and Karine had plenty of arguments over trust issues. The pair broke up in 2017, but reconnected after Karine found out she was pregnant, sadly suffering a miscarriage. Paul, who is known for his dramatic moments, ran away from the cameras for the first time was when he told Karine that he had a criminal record. He ran away a second time on 90 Day: The Other Way after being denied a visa in Brazil due to terrorism charges.

When Karine revealed that she was pregnant again, Paul insisted she take a paternity test, but Karine refused. The two appear to be happy, and they uprooted themselves to live together in Brazil with their son, Pierre.

3. Pedro and Chantel

After Pedro came from the Dominican Republic to marry Chantel, the couple went through adversity with each other’s families fighting against their engagement and marriage. Throughout seasons 2, 3, and 4 of the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff, family disagreements escalated to a physical confrontation, and Chantel resents Pedro for sending money back to his family every month, while she felt they weren’t living as well as they could in the U.S.

Pedro recently went back home to the Dominican Republic without Chantel and was caught dirty dancing another woman. The pair recently received their own spinoff show, The Family Chantel, which delves further into their relationships with their families.

2. Colt and Larissa

In season 6, Colt and Larissa’s relationship begins to crumble as their mothers butt heads while living together. After being accused of being a gold digger, she exclaimed her famous line, “Anyone against the queen will die!” The relationship only got worse when, days before their marriage, Colt called the cops on Larissa. She was sent to jail, but Colt bailed her out and dropped the domestic abuse charges.

This routine of Colt calling the police, Larissa going to jail, and him bailing her out became a frequent occurrence before they decide to divorce. The unpredictable behavior became commonplace as the two (and her mother, Debbie) continued to fight. The pair had a messy divorce, but they are now on to living separate lives with new people.

1. Jorge and Anfisa

Anfisa realized Jorge was lying to her about how much money he really had when Jorge refused to buy Anfisa the expensive things he promised her. The two were seen fighting and Anfisa even physically attacked Jorge. Jorge, on the other hand, continued to hide information and lie to his wife. On the season 2 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Tell All episode, Jorge was so mad at Anfisa that he threatened to reveal her “dark past”, including an unspecified “shameful” job.

Jorge was then arrested for drug possession and sentenced to prison. Despite their history, Anfisa is waiting for Jorge to get out of prison, turning to bodybuilding and fitness modeling as she waits.
