On the newest season of 90 Day Fiancé that aired this past Sunday, Robert reveals that he proposed to his fiancé Anny after only eight hours together. In the whirlwind engagement, Robert never gave Anny a ring either.
The new season is here and in full swing. The hit TV show, 90 Day Fiancé, is back for its 7th season. The show has been documenting the complexities of international relationships. Cameras follow different couples consisting of an American and their foreign fiancé. The couples face challenges such as culture, language barriers, and sometimes the stigma of being that of as mail-order spouses. The trick is once the couples decide to marry and get approved for the fiancé or K-1 visa, they only have 90 days to get married or the foreign half of the couple has to leave back to their home countries. With the clock ticking, that’s when the couples really discover what it means to live together and see if they will have a happily-ever-after ending or if it’s not meant to be.
Season 7 introduced the 90 Day Fiancé fans to a new batch of couples - seven different Americans who have fallen for foreigners from seven different countries. On the season premiere (via ET Online), the audience got to know the backstories of these couples. One of them being 41-year-old Robert from Winter Park, Florida and 30-year-old Anny from Santiago, Dominican Republic. Robert, a single father who drives for a rideshare company, decided to take a cruise where he met his future fiancé, Anny for the first time. After spending time online and video chatting, he decided to come to see her. The problem was that Robert’s cruise only had a 1-day stop in the Dominican Republic, which left the couple little time to get to know each other in person before getting engaged. Robert explained, “Anny and I spent only eight hours together, but it was the best eight hours of my life.”
Robert revealed that after their first eight hours together, he popped the question. Another problem arose, Robert didn’t bring an engagement ring. The single father revealed how the engagement went down, saying, “So, right then and there, I was like, ‘I have to have this, Shorty.’ So I asked her to marry me. It was spontaneous. I didn’t even have a ring, but I wasn’t going to let the moment slip away.” Anny said yes. Robert has had plenty of naysayers who have been skeptical of the credibility of the relationship and more importantly, Anny’s intentions. His friends and family warned him about her, but he doesn’t want to listen to any of it. He said, “For people who think this is crazy, I say, ‘What the hell, mind your business.’” He continues, “I don’t listen to what nobody says, I go with my heart and my mind.”
While most people wouldn’t normally only have one day to decide if they want to take their relationship to the next level, that’s what Robert’s situation entailed. The couple have been approved for the K-1 visa and as soon as Anny arrives, they will have 90 days to pull off their wedding. Anny, who loves to have a good time, will have to face the reality of Robert’s world as a single father, where he expects her to step up as a step-mother. It remains to be seen how the 90 days will turn out for this whirlwind romance - fans will have to continue watching 90 Day Fiancé to find out if they make it down the aisle.
