Tania from 90 Day Fiancé is spending 30 days in Costa Rica to learn herbalism during her boyfriend Syngin’s 90 day period that is allowed through the K-1 visa. He, however, is unable to leave the country due to the rules of obtaining residency in the US, so she’s leaving him with her family in her unfinished shed.
29-year-old Tania and 29-year-old Syngin, met after she went to South Africa to meet another man from a dating app. After that relationship didn’t end up working out, Tania still decided to still make the trip and that’s where she met bartender Syngin. After meeting him, she went home with him that night and ended up staying with her new man for months in South Africa. By all appearances, they seem like a suitable couple, however, it is the lack of common ground this couple has which is worrying. Tania is deeply opinionated and watching her biological clock. By contrast, Syngin is easy-going and in no rush to start a family.
The political activist made the announcement on Sunday’s episode (via E! Online) that she will be leaving for 30 of the 90 days they have to go to Costa Rica to become an herbalist. Needless to say, her boyfriend wasn’t thrilled. Tania has put off this trip to become a nutritional guru twice already. Regardless if Syngin is in the United States, she just didn’t want to wait another year. That leaves him to spend one month with her family and no other friends or support system in a foreign country in her absence. That’s also 30 days of getting to know each other that won’t happen.
In the episode, Syngin talks about how he feels about his fiancée leaving, saying to her friends and family, “I feel so upside down. I feel so out of place.” Though Tania seems to not listen as she explains why this is a good idea for her and Syngin’s future, saying, “It’s an investment for mine and Syngin’s future because we’d love to make our own products. Start our own business,” she said. “I want to be the community witch doctor!” She continued, “Yeah it sucks, leaving Syngin here all by himself, but with this K-1 visa he’s not allowed to leave America.” She explains that though she “loves Syngin to death,” she “can’t put it off for another year.” Meanwhile, her friends have them worried for the couple as they expressed concerns that she’s “pushing it with her timelines” leaving for 30 days of the already short 90 days to learn about each other before getting married.
Her 30-day departure leaves fans wondering what she’s thinking bringing her boyfriend to the States just to abandon him for a third of the time. As if it weren’t hard enough having to endure the immigrant experience in the United States in 2019, but having the one person you have a connection with leave you is messed up. Even if Tania is preparing for their future so they can start a business together, fans are wondering why she didn’t just study holistic nutrition and herbalism in the United States. Tania’s lack of preparation for Syngin’s arrival (forcing him to live in a shed that she’s tasked him to fix up), her bossiness, and her strange timetable for furthering her education might not bode well for this relationship. Only time will tell. Until then, let’s hope Tania doesn’t have any attractive and single neighbors willing to keep Syngin company while she’s gone.
