Two of the current stars of this season of 90 Day Fiancé, Michael Jessen calls out TLC for the misleading editing that portrays both him and his fiancée, Juliana Custodio, in a bad light. He was upset with how the editing causes consequences that they will have to live with.

42-year-old Michael met 23-year-old Brazilian born Juliana at a yacht party in Croatia when the model was only 20-years-old. They two then quickly fell in love. When Juliana’s tourist visa was denied, they decided to turn to the K-1 visa process so Juliana could join Michael in Connecticut. Now that Juliana is finally in America, she’s learning to be step-mother to Michael’s two young children Maxwell and CeCe while co-parenting with Michael’s ex-wife Sarah. Though the biggest issue on season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé is the preparation for their wedding that they have to complete in the 90 days allotted by the visa. On the last episode, Juliana was brought to a mediator to talk about a prenuptial agreement, which left Juliana feeling skeptical of Michael and scared for her future.

The December 15th episode of 90 Day Fiancé season 7 is about halfway through the season and the drama is at an all-time high. On the show, the couple has been talking finances a lot as they prepare for their marriage by writing up a prenuptial agreement. After watching the episode, an angry Michael when to social media to rant about how the editing has portrayed him and his soon-to-be-bride all wrong. The 42-year-old ranted on his Instagram Stories (via In Touch) and singled out Sharp Entertainment for the dishonest portrayal of his life. He said the journey of letting the world into his private life has proven to be “difficult.” The 90 Day Fiancé star said that he feels like the show isn’t “reflective of our reality.” Michael continued:

Michael then explained that the reason why he’s not able to go into as much detail as he’d like, saying, “Maybe I’m being a little careful. We’ve signed some things, there’s NDAs.” However, the businessman said that he’s not really worried because he has “a lot of lawyers.” Then he gave away that he and his Juliana are planning on adopting her niece and nephew from Brazil, to reveal that he has been very charitable regardless of his portrayal on the show of being a money-hungry businessman who cares more about maintaining his bank account balance than taking care of his bride-to-be. He revealed that this show has hurt all people involved, saying, “We’re all upset about the harshness for which we were portrayed. It hurts our feelings.”

“I wanna say something else and I started thinking about this, I saw trailers for this episode and it was the Pillowtalk trailers. And Paola [Mayfield], she said something when the prenuptial thing comes up with us, she looks at us and says, ‘Oh he only thinks of himself.’ That’s exactly why I get upset about this, Sarah gets upset, Juliana gets upset. It shows how the show distorts the reality of who we are. And anybody who knows who we really are. We have to live with the consequences of what is being shown on TV because this is being broadcast to so many more people than we’ve ever met or know. To hear words like that, it’s like a knife in my heart. I give so much, we all give so much. We care a lot. … So Paola Mayfield, I always think of myself. OK, thank you. But that’s how TLC and Sharp Entertainment want to shape it, isn’t it?. But ultimately, we have to live lives after this is long over. We have to live with the consequences.”

Though the distortion of reality was bound to happen as reality TV shows are known to cut lines and take them out of context in order to fit the need of the storyline arc, Michael said that it has been a difficult pill for him to swallow. Regardless, with all of the contracts signed and being halfway through the season, there is not much that can be done other than ride out what they’ve signed up for.
